The love of a Mother

Happy Mother’s day!

A mother is so much more than just the woman who raises you. A mother is someone who has displayed unconditional love, someone who comforts you in times of need, someone who cares for you, who gives up their time for you and who’s example leads you to be proud of them.

There are three woman in my life who deserve to be honoured on Mother’s day today. Three Woman who have been people in my life who have demonstrated all of these traits.

Aryanna, Me, Cindy and Charity

Cindy is my mother in law, or my bonus Mom as we like to say. Cindy, thank you for raising such an amazing man that I get to call my husband. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed into the Henson family and thank you for the relationship that we share. I have already learned so much from you. You take everything in stride and are so down to earth. You inspire people every day with your faith and have inspired me greatly as I’ve watched you obey God when you may not know where he will lead you. I’m so happy that you are a part of my life. Looking back, I can’t imagine not being a part of your family. I feel so blessed by your intentionality when it comes to our relationship and I feel like I can honestly say that I have been given the best mother in law there is.

My Grandma Tuula and I

Grandma, you are the most selfless person I have ever known. I have so much admiration for you. You have taught me so many things in my life that I am endlessly grateful for. You’ve taught me, by example, the importance of working hard and putting effort into everything you do. I love spending time with you whether it’s going shopping or to a show or just sitting at camp chatting on the dock. I have so many lovely memories of being at camp and having photoshoots, playing store, baking, learning how to spell “chocolate”, thinking up our own stories to send to Robert Munch and I even have many awesome memories of helping around the lodge cleaning cabins with you. I love spending time with you and I love you so much.

The most beautiful person in the world, my Mom.

And of course, my own Mom. Mom, thank you so much for everything you have done for me. You are the strongest women I know. The strength that you display to me and Vangie every day is admirable. I am so happy with the relationship you and I have been able to share over my lifetime. The countless hours of sitting in hospitals or clinics or airports has drawn us closer than ever and I absolutely love that we have been able to share all of these times together. I’m so proud of you and the goals that you have accomplished. Since I have gotten married and moved out, I have appreciated your company and companionship so much! I love the time that we get to share together whether it’s you taking care of me when Eythan is at work or if it’s just us chatting on the couch. You and Dad have given Vangie and I an amazing life and I’m so thankful and grateful for that. I love you so much Mom. You are the most special and most important woman in my life and I promise I’ll always be your baby.

There are other woman who have also played huge motherly rolls in my life. Diane Pasivirta, Tracey Luttrell and Charlene Katzenback thank you for showing me motherly love. And to all other mothers, I wish you the best day! I hope you enjoy your mother’s day and get spoiled by your children!

I am so excited for the day I get to participate in motherhood but for now I get to be a dog mom to my hound Lacey, and celebrate the mothers who deserve the world.
